Scott Weiland was a musician and singer best known for fronting the rock bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver. He was most recently the lead singer for his band, The Wildabouts.

Weiland's music was featured on the soundtracks for the films Great Expectations, a modern take on the classic Charles Dickens tale, starring Ethan Hawke and Gwyneth Paltrow; Black Hawk Down; The Italian Job; Fantastic Four; Battleship and This Is 40.

His music was also featured on the television series Cold Case, CSI: NY, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Rectify. Additionally, Weiland performed on Saturday Night Live, as well as late night shows with David Letterman, Jay Leno, Carson Daly and Jimmy Kimmel.

In the 1980s, Weiland formed Stone Temple Pilots with his brothers Robert and Dean. They saw success in the 1990s, with the hits "Plush," “Big Empty,” “Vasoline,” “Between the Lines” and “Interstate Love Song.”

In 2002, Weiland joined former Guns N' Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum to create the group Velvet Revolver.

Weiland died December 3, 2015, in Bloomington, Minnesota. A cause of death was unconfirmed. He was 48.
