Ruth Wilson currently stars as Alison Bailey in the Showtime series The Affair, for which she won the 2015 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series.

Born and raised in England, Wilson's first television appearance was on the British reality series Time Commanders, in which teams recreated famous battles in history. After graduating from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2005, Wilson got the lead role in the 2006 BBC version of Jane Eyre.  More roles in both television and theater followed, including an acclaimed 2009 turn as Stella in a London production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Just prior to beginning her role in The Affair, Wilson wrapped up a three-year recurring role on the BBC crime drama Luther, alongside Idris Elba.

Wilson's film career includes turns in Anna Karenina, The Lone Ranger, and Saving Mr. Banks. She will next appear in How to Talk to Girls At Parties alongside Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning.
