Rutger Hauer was a Dutch actor.

Hauer was probably best known for his role in the 1982 film Blade Runner, in which his largely improvised "tears in the rain" speech was particularly memorable. He also appeared in numerous films on both sides of the Atlantic, including Nighthawks (with Sylvester Stallone), The Osterman Weekend (with John Hurt), Flesh & Blood (with Jennifer Jason Leigh), and Ladyhawke (with Michelle Pfieffer).

Hauer died July 19, 2019, in Beetsterzwaag, Netherlands. He was 75.
