Walsh was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 4, 1947, son of Helen & Bernard Walsh. At the age of 5, Walsh, began playing the violin and as a teenager taught himself how to play the guitar. During the 1960's and 1970's he was in several bands including Happy Day, a Chicago-based seven-piece rock group with five top twenty records in the Midwest.

In his early twenties, Walsh secured a gig as the lead guitarist in the original tour of Jesus Christ Superstar which brought him to Los Angeles. In the early 1980's he became the musical director at Warner Bros. and Marvel Productions. Walsh was known as the personal composer for Stan Lee, Jim Henson, Friz Freleng and Lee Gunther.

Walsh designed and built two famous post production facilities in Los Angeles: Saturday Morning Inc. for Marvel Animation and ScreenMusic Studios. He founded and created the Hollywood Film Music Library - the first privately-owned production music library to really penetrate the film and tv market in Los Angeles - which was sold in 1995 to Zomba Entertainment. Walsh went on to create the Chicago Music Library in the 2000's.

In addition to his musical accomplishments he also maintained a third-degree black belt in Shotokan. He spent many years in the dojo and was extremely passionate about his craft. Walsh is survived by his daughters Melissa, Stephanie, Raissa and Dana, his brother Patrick Walsh and his beloved dog Skipper Too.

Every second of every day, his music is being played somewhere in the world.
