Richard Simmons was an American fitness guru, public figure and performer. His early television venture, The Richard Simmons Show, was nominated for seven Daytime Emmy Awards, winning four.

He made many cameos on television shows including General Hospital, Arrested Development, CHiPs, Evening Shade, All My Children and Fame. He voiced characters in animated shows including Johnny Bravo, Hercules, Rocko's Modern Life and Dinosaurs. Simmons also produced his workout videos including Disco Sweat, Sweatin' to the Oldies, Sweatin' to the Oldies 2, Sweatin' to the Oldies 3, Project H.O.P.E: Health, Optimisim, Passion, Energy and Sweat & Shout: An Aerobic Workout.
