Paul Kangas
Paul Kangas was a news anchor and former stockbroker who was best known for his work on PBS’s Nightly Business Report. He served as host of the program from 1979 to 2009, and memorably signed off each NBR broadcast with, "I'm Paul Kangas, wishing all of you the best of good buys."
Kangas joined the business news show as a stock commentator on the local Florida station WPBT, in 1979. Nightly Business Report eventually spread to 250 public television stations and was, at one point, the most-watched evening business news program in the country. Kangas moved up to co-anchor of the program in 1990.
In 2009, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented Kangas with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Business & Financial Reporting.
He died February 28, 2017, in Miami, Florida. He was 79.
