Lisa Simon was a director and producer on the classic children’s show Sesame Street. Over a career spanning more than four decades Simon won 20 Daytime Emmys and was nominated for one Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program for the television movie Don't Eat the Pictures: Sesame Street at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Simon got her start at Sesame Street with a summer job as a file clerk. She also provided care for the child actors on the show, then moved up to working as a production assistant in season one, a producer in season 12 and a director in season 13, continuing on as a producer or director through season 45 of the beloved program. She also directed several episodes of Sesame Street Mexico, also known as Plaza Sesamo, and she produced home videos for the Sesame Street brand, including Elmocize, Zoe’s Dance Moves and Big Bird Sings!
Simon also produced and directed other children’s programs including Between The Lions, Big Bag, Bear In The Big Blue House, Oobi and 16 episodes of Wonder Pets!, which followed the adventures of three preschool classroom pets.
