Kenny Rogers was an American singer, songwriter, producer, and actor.

Rogers began his career as a part of the musical group The First Edition, appearing on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, The Mike Douglas Show, and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

After going solo, the Grammy Award winning country singer often portrayed himself in guest star television appearances.

Perhaps best known on the screen for the Gambler teleplays based on his songs, Rogers’ other television appearances include How I Met Your Mother, Touch by an Angel, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Rio Diablo, Christmas in America, Six Pack, Coward of the Country, The Dream Makers, and Saga of Sonora.

His music has been featured in movies such as Convoy (1978), Urban Cowboy (1980), and The Big Lebowski (1998).

Rogers died March 20, 2020, in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He was 81.
