Ken Nightingall

Ken Nightingall was an English-born boom operator.

In a career that spanned four decades, Nightingall worked in the sound department on a number of films including Paranoiac (1963), The Kiss of the Vampire (1963), Alfie (1966), The Ghoul (1975), The Boys from Brazil (1978), Octopussy (1983), Top Secret! (1984), A View to Kill (1985), Lionheart (1987), Bullseye! (1990), and Lost in Space (1998).

He was also the boom operator for the television series Ellis Island, Minder, and Crime Traveler.

In recent years, Nightingall inadvertently became famous among Star Wars fans after a behind-the-scenes photograph went viral, lovingly depicting him as “Pink Shorts Boom Guy” for his distinctive outfit during the filming of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977).

Nightingall died May 19, 2020, in London, England. He was 91.
