Jeb Rosebrook

Jeb Rosebrook was an American writer and producer.

After working in advertising for several years in Los Angeles, Rosebrook had his first big success as a writer when producer Joe Wizan optioned his story “Bonner” and commissioned his original screenplay for actor Steve McQueen and director Sam Peckinpah.

After the release of Junior Bonner in 1972, Rosebrook wrote episodes of The Virginian and The Waltons, and several made-for TV films, including 1975’s I Will Fight No More Forever, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Writing in a Special Program - Drama or Comedy - Original Teleplay.

Rosebrook later taught screenwriting at Arizona State University, and gave lectures and speeches around the country.

Rosebrook’s book (written with his son, Stuart), Junior Bonner: The Making of a Classic with Steve McQueen and Sam Peckinpah in the Summer of 1971, was published in 2018.

Rosebrook died August 31, 2018, in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was 83.
