Jan Merlin was an American character actor and writer.

Merlin is best known for specializing in villainous roles, mostly in television, appearing in: The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, Bonanza, Rawhide, The Virginian, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Gunsmoke, The Time Tunnel, Ironside, The F.B.I., Little House on the Prairie, Baretta, The A-Team, Dallas, and Paradise.

He also had recurring roles in several other television series including Tom Corbett, Space Cadet, The Rough Riders, Laramie, and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
