Gary Baum, ASC

Gary Baum is currently in his 44th year in camera, starting out as a film loader with Lorimar Productions at the MGM Studios.

His camera assistant and camera operator credits include The A-Team, MacGyver, Magnum P.I., Die Hard II, Friends and Will & Grace.

Having moved up to Director of Photography on Will & Grace in 2005, his current projects are How I Met Your FatherFrasier, and That 90's Show.

Baum has received fifteen Primetime Emmy nominations, and four Primetime Emmy Awards - in 2015 for Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series for Mike & Molly; in 2018 for Will & Grace, and in 2022 and 2024 for How I Met Your Father - all in the same category.

Governor of the Cinematography peer group from 2011-2013 and from 2017-2021, Gary has served on the Creative Arts Awards Committee, Budget Review Committee, the Engineering Committee, and the Digital Strategy Committee.

He has been a member of the American Society of Cinematographers since 2016.
