Don Matheson was an actor who appeared in dozens of televisions series from the early 1960s through the late 1990s. He is perhaps best remembered for the sci-fi adventure Land of the Giants.

Born in Dearborn, Michigan, Matheson earned a Bronze Star while serving in the Korean War and was a Detroit narcotics cop before he became an actor. He broke into television in 1962 with episodes of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and McHale's Navy.

In the years that followed, Matheson was seen in numerous other shows, including Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Emergency!, Eight Is Enough, Murder, She Wrote, Hill Street Blues, Dynasty, Magnum, P.I. and 7th Heaven.

On Land of the Giants, which aired from 1968 to 1970, Matheson played one of the passemgers on a spaceship that crashed on a planet inhabited by enormous humans. It was produced by Irwin Allen, who went on to create such cinematic spectacles as The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno and Earthquake.

In addition, Matheson had recurring roles on The Waltons and Falcon Crest and General Hospital.

Matheson died June 29, 2014, in Woodland Hills, California. He was 84.
