Armelia McQueen was an American actress.
McQueen was in the original 1978 off-Broadway cast of Ain’t Misbehavin’, a cabaret-style revue of Harlem Renaissance music which transferred to Broadway’s Longacre Theatre later that year. She appeared in national touring companies of Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Showboat, and Tommy, as well as a 1988-89 revival of Ain't Misbehavin’.
McQueen had a prolific career in television, starring as the Red Queen in Disney Channel’s 1990s series Adventures in Wonderland, and making appearances in episodes of L.A. Law, Mr. Belvedere, Martin, Living Single, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, That’s So Raven, JAG, Hart of Dixie, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Her feature film appearances include Action Jackson (with Carl Weathers and Sharon Stone), Bulworth (with Warren Beatty and Halle Berry), Life (with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence), and Ghost, in which she played the sister of Whoopi Goldberg’s character.
McQueen died October 3, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. She was 68.
