Requirements for membership in the Performers Peer Group
Please note that requirements (as outlined below) must be met within the four (4) years preceding one's application for membership or membership review; also, such requirements apply in each instance to the production and/or distribution of nationally exhibited audio visual works. All episodes should be a minimum of thirty (30) minutes in length unless defined otherwise specifically for short form programming. Credits from self-published programs alone do not qualify for membership in the Television Academy. Individuals who have received a Primetime, Daytime, or Children's & Family Emmy Nomination, specific to this peer group, within the past four (4) years are eligible for Active membership.
Active Status:
Employment as a performer for a minimum of two (2) years with ten (10) qualifying credits of nationally exhibited television content in a principal role within the past four (4) years. Background work is excluded.
Voice-over performers with ten (10) qualifying credits of nationally exhibited content. Voice-over is defined as a character voice, live action or animation, narration, audio description, in-show announcer, live announcer, promo announcer, and commercials. Group ADR or walla is excluded.
Hosts with ten (10) qualifying credits of nationally exhibited content and must be credited as host or MC. Panel judges on competition programming and entertainment correspondents are excluded.
A stand-up special OR a stand-up performance in a stand-alone episode of a series may qualify as a credit.
Performance Capture (also known as) Motion Capture may qualify as a credit. The credit must be a principal, lead or supporting role. Due to the technical nature of the final product, performers may be asked to provide footage of their raw performance as it was shot. In the case of an uncredited performance, performers may be asked to provide a work contract to verify a role.
At least fifty percent (50%) of the ten (10) qualifying credits must be from traditional network broadcast, cable and/or streaming service original content. The other fifty percent (50%) may be from independent webseries. Determination of these qualifying credits will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Peer Group Executive Committee. Production values must be equivalent to network quality and have wide verifiable distribution.
On camera and voiceover commercials with ten (10) credits in principal roles. Commercial background work is excluded.
Or a qualified body of work relevant to the peer group that warrants a waiver of the above requirements. Body of Work designation has all benefits of Active membership with the exception of running for Peer Group Governor.
Associate Status:
One (1) year professional work in television with a minimum of two (2) aired featured credits in traditional network broadcast, cable and/or streaming service original content.
