Fred Burstein was a director who worked at ABC for 38 years and was a proud member of the DGA for 70 years. Fred studied theater and radio as an actor and director at New York University and then began directing plays at both NYU and Columbia University, where he received his master's degree. When drafted into the U.S. Army, Fred was selected to entertain the troops as creator of the armed forces local television station and director of various plays for the Army base.

Fred moved to LA for the entertainment industry and began his career as a page on I Love Lucy. He worked as an Associate Director/Director on various shows such as Where The Action Is, The Joey Bishop Show, The Gold Diggers, The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game, Barbara Walters Specials, American Bandstand and General Hospital. Burstein worked on many television specials including The Hal Linden Special and The Frank Sinatra Timex Shows featuring Eleanor Roosevelt among other icons. He also worked on numerous Emmy and Academy Award shows, as well as ABC News programming.
