Emmy Awards Spotlight: Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking
One of the most coveted awards in documentary is the Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking Emmy. The category honors the best of the genre, through one of three criteria: profound social impact, significant innovation of form, or remarkable mastery of filmmaking technique. We take a deep dive with our former governors, creators, and past nominees and winners of the award, and answer questions about the submissions process. As a juried award, it is truly a celebration of the filmmakers and the craft of documentary.
