Stuart Damon was an American actor.

Damon was best known as Chief of Staff Dr. Alan Quartermaine on General Hospital from 1977 to 2013. He remained in the role even after the character’s death in 2006, appearing occasionally as the doctor’s ghost. Damon also appeared as Quartermaine on the spinoff Port Charles, which aired from 1997-2003. Damon earned seven Daytime Emmy nominations for the role, winning in 1999.

Damon got his start on Broadway, which led to him play the prince opposite Lesley Ann Warren in a 1965 TV production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. He then worked for over a decade in London, where he starred as a secret agent on the 1968-69 series The Champions, appeared on other British series including The Saint, Steptoe and Son, and The New Avengers, and starred in the West End musicals Charlie Girl, and Man of Magic, in which he portrayed Harry Houdini.

After his stint on General Hospital ended, Damon landed multi-episode arcs on Days of Our Lives and As the World Turns. His other television work includes episodes of Space: 1999, Fantasy Island, Hotel, The New Mike Hammer, and Diagnosis Murder. Film appearances include Star 80 (with Mariel Hemingway), and Young Doctors in Love (with Michael McKean and Sean Young).

Damon died June 29, 2021, in Woodland Hills, California. He was 84.
