Jimmie Rodgers was an American singer, songwriter, and actor.

His music career spanned over the 1950s and '60s, earning several top-ten hits, including "Honeycomb" and "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine."

After learning to play piano and guitar at an early age, Rodgers studied at Vancouver Clark Junior College, then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War before embarking on an entertainment career.

His music was a part of a number of soundtracks in film and television, and he routinely made appearances on variety shows including The Ed Sullivan Show, The Milton Berle Show, The George Burns Show, The Dick Clark Show, American Bandstand, The Carol Burnett Show, and Hee-Haw.

During the summer of 1969, Rodgers hosted an eponymous variety show on ABC.

As an actor, he appeared in Back Door to Hell (1964), The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come (1961) and sang the theme song for The Long, Hot Summer (1958).

Rodgers died January 18, 2021, in Palm Desert, California. He was 87.
