David Hedison

David Hedison was an American actor.

Hedison studied under Sanford Meisner at The Neighborhood Playhouse and Lee Strasberg at The Actors Studio, and appeared in several Broadway and off-Broadway productions.

He co-starred with Vincent Price in the original version of The Fly. Hedison played scientist André Delambre, who got turned into an insect, in the 1958 science fiction classic.

Hedison’s best-known television role was submarine captain Lee Crane in the 1964-68 series, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

Hedison also had recurring roles on the soap operas Another World and The Young and the Restless.

His other television work includes appearances on episodes of Love, American Style, The F.B.I., Medical Center, Barnaby Jones, Wonder Woman, The Bob Newhart Show, Benson, Charlie’s Angels, Hart to Hart, T.J. Hooker, Matt Houston, Dynasty, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Knight Rider, The A-Team, Trapper John, M.D., Who’s The Boss?, and Murder, She Wrote.

Hedison played CIA agent Felix Leiter in two James Bond films, 16 years apart: Live and Let Die (with Roger Moore) in 1973, and Licence to Kill (with Timothy Dalton) in 1989.

Hedison died July 18, 2019, in Los Angeles, California. He was 92.
