Claude Thompson, Emmy-Nominated Makeup Artist
Thompson ran the NBC makeup department for a period of time, and worked closely with such stars as Johnny Carson, Bob Hope and Dinah Shore.
Claude Thompson, a makeup artist who received two Primetime Emmy nominations for his work, died August 5, 2012, in Los Angeles. He was 89.
Born in South Dakota, Thompson moved to California with his family when he was a child.
Following service as a Navy pilot, Thompson began a career as a Hollywood makeup artist and during the late 1950s and early 1960s, he ran the makeup department at NBC.
He went on to work on numerous specials and series, including Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In and Designing Women.
Thompson received his Primetime Emmy nominations for the 1966 special Alice Through the Looking Glass on NBC and the 1968 special ...And Debbie Makes Six on ABC.
