Social Buzz: Top TV Shows, April 26-May 2
What's going on in the social world?
This week, millions of television fans on Facebook and Twitter racked up hundreds of thousands of engagements for episodes featuring inquisitive cops, unconventional families, and a man's quest for purpose.
Of course we’re talking about the whirlwind of social activity surrounding Blue Bloods, Backstrom, Mom, One Big Happy, Happyish and Allegiance. But which of the following got fingers fluttering the most on social?
- The shooting of one of the Reagans in the season finale of Blue Bloods
- Backstrom’s suspicions about his father’s knowledge of meth activity on the season finale of Backstrom
- Roscoe’s big decision to live with his father on the season finale of Mom
- Luke discovering Prudence’s secret on the season finale of One Big Happy
- A 44-year-old’s battle against newer, younger talent in the season premiere of Happyish
- The deadly magnitude of Black Dagger revealed on the season finale of Allegiance
The Social Totals
The Reagans were able to seize and arrest the most social activity, with Blue Bloods accumulating over 86.1K engagements for an impressive 69.8% market share.
Meanwhile, Backstrom’s antisocial attitude ironically wrangled in second place with over 18.4K engagements for a 14.8% market share.
Active Audiences
While it would seem that Facebook and Twitter certainly caught a case of cop fever when it came to total number of engagements, it was a quirky quest for happiness that had the most active audience. Happyish fans talked their way to 936.4 engagements per 1K users—the highest among the shows, and the most active on both Facebook (304.7 engagements per 1K fans) and Twitter (629.0 engagements per 1K followers).
