Richard Bakalyan
Richard Bakalyan was an actor known for his work in the films Chinatown, Von Ryan's Express and Dischord. In Chinatown, opposite Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway, he played Loach, a cop who questions Nicholson’s character, and who is responsible for shooting Dunaway’s character near the end of the film.
The character actor typically played cops, gangsters and juvenile delinquents, the latter in the Robert Altman film The Delinquents, and again in The Delicate Delinquent, starring Jerry Lewis. He was also in several films with Frank Sinatra, typically playing a henchman. In a less menacing vein, he worked on two Disney projects, as the narrator of It’s Tough to Be a Bird, and the voice of Dinky, a bird, in The Fox and the Hound.
Bakalyan also worked extensively in television, including six episodes of Batman, in which he played a henchman of the Joker. And he appeared largely as a bad guy in series such as The Rebel, The Untouchables, Wagon Train, The Girl From U.N.C.L.E., Mod Squad, Cannon, Mannix, Kojak, The Rockford Files, Vega$, Baywatch Nights and Millennium.
