Elizabeth Norment appeared on the Netflix series House of Cards as Nancy Kaufberger, dedicated executive secretary to Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood. Her character on the Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-winning program had worked for Underwood from his time as a member of the House of Representatives from South Carolina through his later career successes.
Norment earned her master’s degree from the Yale School of Drama in 1979 and joined Robert Brustein’s American Repertory Theatre as a founding member. According to Norment, her career took off in 1990 when she starred in three consecutive Shakespeare classics: As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing and The Merchant of Venice at the Grove Shakespeare Festival in Garden Grove, California.

She also had small roles in several television movies and miniseries, including the part of Eunice Kennedy in the 1985 CBS miniseries Robert Kennedy and His Times.
Norment died October 13, 2014, in New York City. She was 61.
