Born Rosa Lee Chapman in Annapolis, North Carolina, in 1939, she moved to Los Angeles in the early 1960s. A job at the William Morris talent agency led to acting work, including guest roles in such TV series as McHale's Navy, Combat! and Dr. Kildare. She is perhaps best remembered for playing Sarah, Napoleon Solo’s secretary in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Early in her acting career, Chapman began writing as well. She got her start with episodes of series in which she appeared, including Burke's Law and The Wild, Wild West. By the late ’60s she devoted herself solely to writing. Her other television credits included My Favorite Martian, Mission: Impossible, It Takes a Thief and The Mod Squad.
She also wrote several screenplays, including those for such films as Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry, Impulse and The Octagon.
Chapman died November 4, 2014, in West Hollywood, California. She was 75.
