Simone Battle was a singer and actress who was a member of the pop group G.R.L. She is best known as a contestant on the 2011 season of the Fox music competition program The X Factor.
Although she did not win on The X Factor, Battle made an impression with her performances, and in 2013 she was approached to join G.R.L. by Robin Antin, founder of the all-female group Pussycat Dolls.
G.R.L. collaborated with the rapper Pitbull on the single "Wild Wild Love," and in July of 2014, the group released a self-titled, five-song EP.
Battle died September 5, 2014, in Los Angeles, of an an apparent suicide. She was 25.

Upon her passing, Reign Deer Entertainment, Kemosabe Records, RCA Records and Robin Antin released a statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”
