5 Things You Didn't Know About Tyler Henry
Learn a little more from one of Hollywood's most in-demand mediums.
Tyler Henry, star of the Netflix reality show Life After Death with Tyler Henry, is one of today's best-known clairvoyants. The central California native was ten years old when he discovered the otherworldly gifts that would become the subject of his streaming series. Henry and his abilities were also showcased for four seasons in E!'s Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry, which premiered in 2016 and featured Henry providing readings for celebrities like Ellen Degeneres, Sofia Vergara and Jim Parsons.
In addition to his television career, Henry is the best-selling author of Between Two Worlds — Lessons from the Other Side and Here and Hereafter. As he prepared to embark on a live tour, Henry recently chatted with the Television Academy about his career, interests and hobbies.
1. The book he'd like to see adapted for television is...
Perdurabo: The Life of Aleister Crowley, a meticulously researched biography of the notorious Victorian-era occultist, philosopher and adventurer.
"The New Thought movement [that Crowley was a part of] had a lot of insane, brilliant, controversial, magickal people who led counter-cultural lives and met tragic ends," and Henry feels it would make for a riveting series.
2. He has a little-known hobby
"I make stained-glass windows."
3. He has received psychic readings of his own
As a teenager, Henry sought readings when he was looking for direction. "Receiving reads helped spark new interests and new ideas. One even predicted my television show!"
4. His alternative career path would be...
"International diplomacy — I like different cultures, travel, spontaneity and resolution-making. Being a medium and orator, I [must] be a good communicator, and diplomacy never hurts."
5. He has some advice for his younger self
"Embrace self-acceptance. I'd say not to worry so much about what other people think. What some dislike about you is what others can't get enough of. We are a culmination of everyone who has ever loved and believed in us. Those are the ones that matter."
