Kennedy Center Honors to Fete Lily Tomlin
Actress and Television Academy governor Lily Tomlin is among five to be recognized at the 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors. The program will air on CBS on Dec. 30.
Esteemed actress and Television Academy governor Lily Tomlin is among five individuals to be celebrated at this year's 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors.
Award-winning actor-producer Tom Hanks, ballerina Patricia McBride, recording artists Al Green and Sting are also among the honorees.
The Kennedy Center chose five extraordinarily gifted artists who have "spent their lives elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world," the organization's chairman David M. Rubenstein said.
"Lily Tomlin has made us laugh and continues to amaze us with her acting talent and quick wit,” he continued.
The 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors gala will take place on Sunday, December 7 and is set to air Tuesday, December 30, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
Prior to the event, the President and Mrs. Obama will receive the five honorees, along with other Kennedy Center dignitaries, at the White House. A dinner dance in the Grand Foyer will follow the performance.
The Kennedy Center Honors medallions will be presented at a State Department dinner and ceremony on Saturday, December 6, hosted by Secretary of State John Kerry.
