Ron Cephas Jones And Jasmine Cephas Jones To Announce Emmy Nominations
The Television Academy announced today that the nominations ceremony for the 73rd Emmy Awards will be a family affair. Emmy Award winners Ron Cephas Jones and his daughter, Jasmine Cephas Jones, will host the virtual event on Tuesday, July 13, at 8:30 AM PDT.
The pair made Emmy history in 2020 when they became the first father-daughter duo to win performance Emmy Awards in the same year. Television Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma will join them at the nominations announcement, which will stream live on Emmys.com.
"It has been an extraordinary year in which television brought multigenerational families together in a shared love of their favorite programs," said Scherma. "So it seems fitting that these two accomplished performers announce this year's Emmy nominees as we acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional programs and talent that are elevating and redefining television."
Two-time Emmy-winner Ron Cephas Jones is best known for his portrayal of William Hill in the critically-acclaimed NBC drama This Is Us, for which he won Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series in both 2018 and 2020. The prolific and widely-respected actor can currently be seen in the Apple TV+ miniseries Lisey's Story. Jones also appeared in the Netflix series Luke Cage and The Get Down, and the USA Network series Mr. Robot.
Jasmine Cephas Jones can currently be seen in the critically acclaimed Starz series Blindspotting. She is best known for originating the dual roles of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in the Broadway stage musical Hamilton and won an Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Actress In A Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her portrayal of Tyisha in the Quibi series #freerayshawn. The gifted actress and singer's additional television credits include roles in the HBO series Mrs. Fletcher and the NBC series Midnight, Texas. Additionally, Jones won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording).
The 73rd Emmy Awards will be broadcast live Sunday, Sept. 19 (8:00-11:00 PM, EDT/5:00-8:00 PM, PDT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
