Actor Corey Haim Dies at 38
After attaining movie stardom as an adolescent, the popular actor experienced personal problems that stalled his career.
Corey Haim, an actor who began his career as a child and achieved fame while still in his adolescence in the 1980s, died March 10, 2010, at a hospital in Burbank, California. He was 38.
The cause of death was unclear. According to news reports, Haim’s mother had called paramedics when he did not feel well upon awaking and collapsed.
Haim was born on December 23, 1971, in Toronto, where he grew up.
His first success came in coming-of-age feature-film comedies like Lucas and License to Drive.
In the 1987 vampire drama The Lost Boys, his costars included another popular teen actor, Corey Feldman, who became a friend and professional colleague. Together came to be known as the two Coreys and their collaborations included the movie Dream a Little Dream in 1989
As he grew up, Haim developed problems with drugs and in recent years he underwent rehabilitation for addictions to prescription pills and cocaine.
In 2007 he reunited with Feldman for an A&E reality series called The Two Coreys, during which Haim lived with Feldman and his wife for three months. The show was renewed for a second season but not a third after Feldman said he would not work with Haim until he sought help for his personal difficulties.
His other television credits included the series The Edison Twins and Roomies.
