Sid Haig was an American actor.

Born and raised in Fresno, California, Haig was encouraged to pursue an acting career by his high school drama teacher. After high school, Haig enrolled in the Pasadena Playhouse, the school that trained such noted actors as Robert Preston, Gene Hackman, and Dustin Hoffman.

Haig starred in several of director Jack Hill’s low-budget “blaxploitation” films during the late 1960s and 70s, including Spider Baby, Black Mama, White Mama, Coffy, and Foxy Brown. He appeared opposite actress Pam Grier in many of these films.

Haig appeared in several mainstream films as well, including George Lucas’s THX 1138 and the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, as well as Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown and Kill Bill Vol. 2.

Haig’s extensive work in television includes appearances on The Untouchables, Batman, Star Trek, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Gunsmoke, Get Smart, Mission: Impossible, Mannix, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Rockford Files, Charlie’s Angels, The Dukes of Hazzard, T.J. Hooker, Fantasy Island,  The A-Team, Hill Street Blues, and MacGyver.

In 2003, Haig’s film career was revived when director Rob Zombie cast him as evil, psychotic clown Captain Spaulding in the cult horror film House of 1000 Corpses, its 2005 sequel The Devil’s Rejects, and 2019’s 3 From Hell.

Haig died September 21, 2019, on Thousand Oaks, California. He was 80.
