Paul Ritter was a British-born actor.
He is perhaps most widely known for playing Martin Goodman in every episode of the British television sitcom Friday Night Dinner.
A graduate of St. John’s College in Cambridge, Ritter studied modern languages before landing his first guest-starring role in the series The Bill. He would go on to land recurring roles in City Lights, Land Girls, Vera, Hang Ups, No Offence, and Cold Feet.
Ritter also appeared in a number of TV mini-series including Belgravia, Rebellion, Catherine the Great, The Capture, Resistance, Neil Gaiman’s Likely Stories, Houdini and Doyle, Mapp & Lucia, The Game, Great Expectations, and HBO’s Chernobyl.
On the big screen, he was seen in Hannibal Rising (2007), Quantum of Solace (2008), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), and The Eagle (2011).
Ritter died April 5, 2021, in Faversham, Kent, England. He was 54.
