Joan Lorring was an actress who began her career in feature films and went on to appear in several television programs over the span of 30 years.

Born in Hong Kong, Lorring moved to San Francisco before the onset of World War II and began her career in radio before breaking in to features. She received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for the 1945 film The Corn Is Green. Her other movies included The Bridge of San Luis Rey, Three Strangers and The Verdict.

She began appearing on television in the early 1950s with roles in live productions such as The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse and The Motorola Television Hour. In the years that followed she had roles in many other programs, including a lead in Norby, several episodes of Robert Montgomery Presents and a regular role on the daytime drama Ryan's Hope.

Lorring died May 30, 20114, in Sleepy Hollow, New York. She was 88.
