Irv Cross was an American professional football player and sportscaster.

He is most widely recognized as a television commentator with CBS Sports and as a sports analyst on The NFL Today.

Cross graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and played college football for the Wildcats before being drafted to the Philadelphia Eagles.

He played cornerback in the NFL for nine years, was a two-time Pro Bowler with the Eagles, and played three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.

Cross joined CBS radio and television as sports reporter in Philadelphia and would become the first African-American sports analyst on television with CBS Sports.

Cross died February 28, 2021, in North Oaks, Minnesota. He was 81.
