Two-time Oscar®: winner Hilary Swank — who took home Best Actress awards for the roles of "Brandon Teena" in Boys Don't Cry in 1998 and "Maggie Fitzgerald" in Million Dollar Baby in 2004 — stars as "Mary" in British-American telepic Mary and Martha. The film premiered in spring 2013 on the BBC in the UK and on HBO in the United States.

Swank launched her acting career with a role in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She later appeared with Pat Morita in The Next Karate Kid and played single mother "Carly Reynolds" on television series Beverly Hills, 90210.
