Carol Arthur was an American actress.

Born in Hackensack, N.J., Arthur met her husband-to-be, actor Dom DeLuise, in 1964 while working in local theater productions. They married in 1965.

Arthur's first acting appearances were as herself on The Dom DeLuise Show in 1968. She went on to appear in episodes of Emergency!, Sanford and Son, Rhoda, What's Happening!!, Alice, and St. Elsewhere.

Arthur is most widely recognized as foul-mouthed schoolmarm Harriett Johnson in Mel Brooks' Oscar-nominated 1974 comedy Blazing Saddles. She also appeared in Brooks' films Silent Movie, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Dracula: Dead and Loving It.

Her last television appearance was on an episode of 7th Heaven in 2004.

Arthur died November 1, 2020, in Woodland Hills, California. She was 85.
