In Morrone's latest film Gonzo Girl, she goes toe-to-toe with Oscar-winning actor Willem Dafoe, showcasing her undeniable screen presence in this thrilling adaptation of Cheryl Della Pietra's semiautobiographical novel of her time assisting the iconic and controversial father of gonzo journalism Hunter S. Thompson. The film, which is Patricia Arquette's directorial debut, premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival and Morrone has received critical acclaim for her performance, including Indiewire noting this film as "the best example yet of her insane star power and wild magnetism."
Morrone received her first Emmy Award nomination for her performance in Amazon's hit limited series Daisy Jones & The Six, produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine and based on the popular book of the same name. She stars opposite Riley Keough and Sam Claflin in the musical drama which charts the spectacular rise and precipitous fall of a renowned rock band in the 1970s. Morrone's performance has been recognized as the "standout", "show-stealing" and "the beating heart of the series". The series received eight additional nominations including "Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series".
Morrone is also upcoming in Marmalade, alongside Joe Keery and Aldis Hodge. The film follows a naive small-town man as he narrates the colorful tale of a romantic bank heist to his cunning cellmate.
In 2019, Morrone starred as the titular 'Mickey' in Annabelle Attanasio's Mickey And The Bear. The film follows a determined Montana teenager (Morrone) as she maneuvers a turbulent relationship with her veteran father (James Badge Dale). The critically acclaimed drama made its world premiere at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival and later played to sold out crowds at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
Prior, Morrone starred in Augustine Frizell's comedy, Never Goin Back for A24. The film premiered to massive acclaim at both the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and SXSW Film Festival, where it was nominated for the SXSW Gamechanger Award. The film was later nominated for the John Cassavetes Award at the 2019 Film Independent Spirit Awards. A24 released the film in August 2018.
Previously, Morrone starred opposite Bruce Willis in Eli Roth's remake of Death Wish for MGM, and made her acting debut in James Franco's biopic, Bukowski.
