Gordon began his career as a film agent and also worked as a screenwriter. He went on to produce films such as Die Hard and its sequel Die Hard 2 (with Bruce Willis), K-9 (with James Belushi), Lock Up (with Sylvester Stallone), The Rocketeer (with Jennifer Connelly), October Sky (with Jake Gyllenhaal), and Waterworld (with Kevin Costner).
In television, he served as an executive producer on shows and TV movies like Just Our Luck, The Renegades, Lone Star, Our Family Honor, Things That Go Bump, and The Streets. In addition to producing Just Our Luck, Gordon wrote 13 of its episodes.
Gordon's most recent project was as an executive producer on the Hitman TV series, based on two films he also produced: Hitman in 2007, and its sequel Hitman: Agent 47 in 2015.
Gordon died November 1, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. He was 73.
