Mary Carver was an actress known for the role of Cecilia Simon, mother of the private-detective brothers played by Gerald McRaney and Jameson Parker on the CBS drama Simon & Simon. During the show's eight seasons, from 1981 to 1989, she appeared in 153 episodes.
The Los Angeles native also appeared in numerous other television series, including Lux Video Theatre, The Donna Reed Show, The Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Virginian, Mannix, McCloud, The Rockford Files, Quincy, M.E., The Guardian, Star Trek: The Next Generation and ER.
Over the course of a six-decade career, she also appeared on Broadway in The Fifth of July and The Shadow Box, as well as in several feature films, such as From Here to Eternity, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, Protocol, Best Seller, Safe and Arachnophobia.
In addition, she taught in the theater department at the University of Southern California. Carver loved to travel, to argue politics, and was an inveterate flirt! She will be missed.
Carver died at October 18, 2013, at her home in Woodland Hills, California, following a brief illness. She was 89.
